:Call of disaster affected candidates
Himachal Pradesh is currently facing a severe natural disaster. In the last few weeks, continuous heavy rainfall and cloudburst incidents have caused devastation in many parts of the state. Especially in Chamba, Kullu and Mandi districts, cloudburst has caused immense loss of life and property. Many villages have been cut off, bridges have been washed away and roads have been badly damaged. In such circumstances, normal life has been completely affected.
In these circumstances, candidates appearing for the Himachal Administrative Service (HPAS) main examination are facing a serious crisis. It has become almost impossible for candidates whose examination centres are in Shimla or other remote places to reach there. The families of many candidates are themselves hit by the disaster—houses have collapsed, crops have been destroyed and people are forced to take shelter in relief camps.
Candidates say that conducting the exam in such difficult circumstances is not justified. When the state government and administration are fully engaged in relief and rehabilitation work, then expecting the candidates to appear for the exam with mental balance and preparation is beyond reality.
Therefore, the candidates of HPAS humbly request the state government and the Public Service Commission to postpone the main examination for some time keeping in mind the seriousness of the disaster and the situation of the affected districts. This decision will not only give equal and fair opportunity to the candidates, but it will also be a symbol of human sensitivity.
