Shimla, April 25: The District Legal Services Authority Shimla organised a special workshop under the campaign “Save Our Water: Preserve, Protect, Restore” (April 20–25, 2026), focusing on environmental protection and conservation of natural water resources.
The workshop was held at the ADR Building of DLSA Shimla, with active participation from students of BSN School Chakkar, HP University Institute of Legal Studies, and the Law Department of Himachal Pradesh University.
Secretary and Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of DLSA Shimla, Umesh Verma, addressed the students and highlighted the importance of water conservation. He informed that under the campaign, detailed information about all natural water sources in the district has been collected through the Rural Development Department. Cleaning of these water sources is being carried out on a large scale with the help of Para Legal Volunteers and other departments.
Officials from the Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board and the Jal Shakti Department also participated. They sensitised students about environmental conservation, maintenance of natural water resources, and the importance of keeping water sources clean.
As part of the campaign, a cleanliness drive was conducted at the Haringarh water source. Students of Himachal Pradesh University, Para Legal Volunteers of DLSA Shimla, members of Municipal Corporation Shimla, youth groups, women’s groups, and local residents actively took part in the initiative.
Umesh Verma appealed to the residents of Shimla to maintain cleanliness around natural water sources and contribute towards conserving water for future generations.
