A spiritual event on anger and stress management for improved human values was organized by the Institutional Development Plan (IDP) of Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, Solan. This event was part of the one-month certificate course on soft skills which aims at skill upgradation and capacity building of students through personality development.
The spiritual event was conducted this week by Didi Sushma, In-charge, Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya, Solan Centre and her team which included BK Babita, BK Kalpana, Behan Ambica and Bhai Shyam. The key speaker Brahma Kumari Raj Yogini Behan Sushma, stressed the importance of human values for the holistic growth
of individuals and society. She said that the purity of thoughts, actions and ideologies is needed for youth who must work with discipline, honesty and the highest professional ethics. A successful life may be led through spiritually enlightened minds and souls. She also conducted a meditation session for the 80 undergraduate students of the university. Behan Babita emphasized the critical issue of anger management and demonstrated simple tools to control anger. She called upon all the students to control their anger for a quality life. Behan Kalpana discussed stress and anxiety management through meditation and purity of emotions while Behan Ambica stressed for a simple peaceful life.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajeshwar Singh Chandel greeted the sisters of the Brahma Kumaris movement and applauded their efforts for motivating students to lead a disciplined, healthy and purposeful life. He informed that soon a group of 20 to 25 students will visit Mount Abu, Rajasthan, the headquarter of Brahma Kumaris movement to see the solar energy use and eco-farming-based agriculture model practiced by the centre. These students will also attend sessions on discipline and the purpose of life for professional excellence. Dr. Ashu Chandel, Coordinator of the Certificate course congratulated all the students for availing of this opportunity and informed that more such events will be organized in the future. Dr. KK Raina, PI of the IDP project informed that the collaborative activities with the BrahmaKumaris will be further strengthened. The establishment of a thought lab will also be proposed to university authorities where students can experiment with their ideas and can discuss with their mentors and professors.
Dr. Manish Kumar, Dean College of Horticulture blessed the students and called upon all the students to develop healthy personalities. Dr. Y.R Shukla, University Librarian ensured all the assistance to students through the different availability of e-learning resources on spirituality. Dr. Yasmin Janjhua and Dr. Rashmi Chaudhary extended concluding remarks and a vote of thanks.
