Due to heavy rains in Ladakh, the Leh-Kargil highway was washed away near Lamayuru. Due to which the traffic from Bodhkharbo to Lamayuru Samdu of NH-1 has come to a complete halt. The road repair work is going on on a war footing, but people are facing a lot of difficulties.
Hundreds of vehicles are stranded due to the washing away of this major highway connecting Leh and Kargil. The local administration has appealed to the people to avoid travel and advised them to stay in safe places. The Indian Army and the local administration are working together to restore the road.
The administration said that this damage has been caused due to flash floods caused by cloudburst. Food and other essential items are also being delivered to the people stranded on the highway. It is expected that traffic will be normal soon.
