The Rohru Forest Division has strongly condemned the assault on a forest guard while he was performing his official duty to protect forest resources. The incident involved Forest Guard Rohit Nainta, posted at Tikker Beat, who was allegedly attacked while discharging his lawful responsibilities.
In a statement, the Rohru Forest Division termed the assault a cowardly act and said that violence against frontline forest staff is completely unacceptable and amounts to a direct attack on the rule of law.
Forest officials highlighted that personnel of the Rohru Division work in extremely challenging terrain and conditions to safeguard forests, wildlife and public resources that belong to the people. Any attempt to intimidate, obstruct or assault forest officials while performing their duties will be taken very seriously.
The department also expressed solidarity with the injured forest guard and praised the courage and dedication of frontline forest staff who continue to protect precious natural resources despite difficulties.
Officials confirmed that necessary legal action has been initiated against those responsible, and the matter will be pursued to its logical conclusion.
The Rohru Forest Division has appealed to citizens to support and respect forest officers and staff entrusted with conserving the region’s invaluable natural heritage.
