Appeals for intensive measures to eradicate drug menace from the State
After inaugurating 52nd Himachal Pradesh Police Sports and Duty Meet, 2023 organized by the Himachal Pradesh Police at Dharamshala today, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla said that the police force was not only accountable for ensuring the safety of the people but they were also responsible for promoting peace and spirit of camaraderie amongst the fellow employees through such sports activities.
He said that the police should always keep the welfare of the people in mind and be sympathetic and considerate towards them. They should always be ready to offer individual service and friendship and render necessary assistance to all without regard to their wealth or social standing.
He said that law enforcement was a challenging task, which requires not only mental acuity but requires physical fitness and flexibility. “The discipline and commitment and determination towards duty make you distinct from other,” he said adding that this brings good result and excellence. He said sport was an integral part of everybody’s life, and even more for the police force, stressing speed, agility, efficiency, alertness and determination.
In his speech Sh. Shukla called upon all the officers and employees of Himachal Pradesh Police to make concerted efforts to control the illegal drug trade thus helping youth keep them away from this evil.
The Governor also took salute from the parade and said that the meet will help police forces to share experiences and view-points.
Earlier, Director General of Police Sanjay Kundu, while welcoming the Governor said that the 52nd HP Police Sports and Duty Competition was being organized after a gap of three years because of COVID pandemic. He told that around 600 players from across the state were participating in this competition.
Besides the athletic acrobatics, cultural programs were also presented on this occasion.
Organizing Secretary IG Zahur Haider Zaidi also expressed his gratitude to all the distinguished guests including the chief guest for participating in the program.
On this occasion, MP Kishan Kapoor, Former Minister Major Vijay Singh Mankotia, Deputy Mayor Sarv Chand Galotia, Deputy Commissioner Dr Nipun Jindal and police officers from across the state were present.
