Shiksha Mahakumbh to be held on 9-10 October at NIT Hamirpur
Governor Kavinder Gupta today released the brochure of the sixth edition of Shiksha Mahakumbh 2026, published by the Samagra Shiksha Department of Vidya Bharati Training and Research Institute at Lok Bhavan.
Shiksha Mahakumbh 2026 will be organized on 9 and 10 October, 2026, at National Institute of Technology Hamirpur under the joint aegis of NIT Hamirpur and the Samagra Shiksha Department. Institutions funded by the Central and State Governments from Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir will collaborate in the event.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that initiatives like Shiksha Mahakumbh plays a vital role in shaping new directions for the future of education. Appreciating the efforts of the Samagra Shiksha Department of Vidya Bharati, he said that the organization is working towards promoting India-centric education. He said that the objective of such initiatives is not merely to make education a means of acquiring degrees, but to transform it into a foundation for personality development, nation-building and holistic growth.
Sh. Gupta said that research, innovation and the integration of India’s knowledge traditions into modern contexts form the core philosophy of Shiksha Mahakumbh. He said that five successful editions of the event have already been organized at various National Institutes of Technology across the country and these gatherings have collectively strengthened the foundation of India’s academic resurgence.
Highlighting the theme of this year’s conclave, “Education, Nature and Progress-Educating for Development and Harmony with Nature,”, the Governor said that it was highly relevant in the present context, as the survival and development of humanity depend on maintaining a balanced relationship with nature. He stressed the need for an education system that not only prepares individuals for employment but also fosters balance, sensitivity and sustainable progress.
Expressing confidence in the upcoming event, Sh. Gupta said that Shiksha Mahakumbh 6.0 would emerge as a guiding platform in redefining education aligned with national values and global aspirations. He expressed hope that the conclave would serve not only as a confluence of ideas but also as a transformative initiative that connects education with the soul of India. He urged stakeholders to view education not merely as knowledge acquisition but as a celebration of life, progressing in harmony with nature, society and the nation.
Earlier, Organizational Secretary of Vidya Bharati, Vijay Kumar Nadda and Director of National Institute of Technology Hamirpur, Professor Murlidhar Suryavanshi, also shared their views. National Convener of the Shiksha Mahakumbh campaign, Dr. Shamsher Singh, welcomed the Governor, while senior scientist from Indian Space Research Organisation, Sudesh Thakur, briefed the gathering about the initiative. Dr. Jitendra Garg presented the vote of thanks.
Secretary to the Governor C.P. Verma and Vice Chancellors of various universities were also present on the occasion.
