BILASPUR
In an effort to emulate the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the district government has started to transform two islands in Govind Sagar Lake into prominent tourist sites. Four little islands were first chosen for tourism-related purposes. Rising lake levels caused a temporary halt to the procedure, which started in November of last year.
The islands will be developed with a variety of amenities, including hotels, dining options, pre-wedding photo areas, destination wedding locations, adventure sports, and picnic areas, according to Bilaspur Deputy Commissioner Abid Hussain Sadiq. It is anticipated that the project would greatly increase tourism in the area and create jobs for young people in the area, fostering their economic development.
Sadiq said that two companies have been given the task of developing two of the chosen islands after the contract procedure was finished. Boats will transport tourists to these islands. In order to provide guests with a distinctive experience, eco-friendly camping areas will be set up, complete with campfire evenings.
The islands will have cultural festivals with traditional dance, music, and theater performed by local performers in an effort to honor and promote the indigenous way of life. Additionally, there are plans for hiking paths, nature walks, and tourist fishing and angling activities. The lake has already seen the introduction of a few water-based leisure activities, including boating, jet skiing, and cruises. The administration claims that the two islands’ development would be finished in the upcoming four months, which would be a big step in the direction of increasing tourism in the Bilaspur region.
