St. Thomas School, Shimla, celebrated “National Science Day” with great enthusiasm and dignity on February 28, 2026. On this occasion, special programs were organized to educate students about the importance of science, the scientific outlook, and the invaluable contributions of Indian scientists.
This event was organised by: My Bharat Shimla in collaboration with Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.
Teachers of the Science Faculty addressed the students.
Mrs. Harshlata (PGT Physics) explained the history of National Science Day, explaining that it commemorates the discovery of the “Raman Effect” by the great scientist Dr. C.V. Raman. He inspired students to be curious, rational, and adopt a scientific mindset.
Mr. Surendra Sharma (PGT Chemistry) encouraged students to pursue innovation and develop a scientific outlook. He emphasized that science is not limited to textbooks; it offers solutions to every problem in life. He encouraged students to pursue research and new discoveries.
Mrs. Tanuja (PGT Biology) highlighted the importance of science in everyday life and the need for environmental protection. She highlighted the contributions of Indian scientists such as Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Dr. Homi Bhabha, and Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, urging students to draw inspiration from their ideals.
On this occasion, students also presented their views on various topics.
Divyashi Himta, Atirath, Shubham Sharma, Deepanshi Sharma, Aastha Thakur and Angel Sharma delivered impressive speeches on topics like National Science Day, scientific achievements, environmental protection, space research and social impact of science.
At the end of the program, the school administration expressed its gratitude to the organizers, My Yuva Bharat Shimla, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and thanked all the participants and teachers. Students were encouraged to continue their efforts toward scientific thinking, innovation, and research.
Thus, the National Science Day celebrations were successfully concluded at St. Thomas School, Shimla and the students were infused with new energy and enthusiasm towards science.
