The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in many districts of the state from 15 to 20 August. According to the Meteorological Department, there will be a yellow alert of heavy rain at one or two places in Kangra, Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur on August 15, Una, Chamba, Mandi, Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur on August 16, Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur on August 17 and in the remaining 10 districts except Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti on August 18.
This alert will continue on August 19 and 20 as well. According to the Meteorological Department, during this period there will be a possibility of landslides in hilly areas, waterlogging in low-lying areas and an increase in the water level of rivers and streams. The Meteorological Department has advised people to avoid unnecessary travel, avoid going to the banks of rivers and streams and stay in safe places.
