Shimla, April 2026:
In a significant administrative decision, the Himachal Pradesh government has announced a complete ban on granting extensions, re-employment, and re-engagement of government servants after retirement.
According to an official communication issued by the Department of Personnel, all administrative secretaries have been directed that no proposals seeking service extension or re-employment of any officer or official will be entertained henceforth.
The order clearly states that any such proposals, if submitted, will not be considered at any level. All departments have been instructed to strictly comply with these directions to ensure uniform implementation across the state administration.
Importantly, officials currently serving on extension, re-employment, or re-engagement will be deemed retired immediately upon completion of their ongoing tenure, with no further continuation allowed.
The directive has been marked as “Most Urgent,” underscoring the government’s intent to enforce the decision without delay.
The order was issued by Niraj Kumar, Joint Secretary (Personnel) to the Government of Himachal Pradesh.
