Shimla
Following the recent judgment in CWP No. 9681 of 2023 & CMP No. 20472 of 2024 (Jai Krishan Mehta vs. HPTDC) by the Hon’ble HP High Court on November 12, 2024, the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) has implemented strict payment processes for banquet service bookings.
An 80% advance of the estimated sum owed to HPTDC will henceforth be required for private events like weddings and parties before the service is provided.
The Court’s order further stipulates that government departments that owe HPTDC money must pay by November 30, 2024, failing which the agency heads in question risk contempt of court. Unit leaders are expected to maintain compliance; if they don’t, they risk being held personally responsible for covering any losses.
HPTDC has directed all divisions to collect various debts as quickly as possible, and a comprehensive report is expected on November 17, 2024. To address any issues encountered during the reporting process, designated accountants will offer further coordination help.
