Shimla, September 27, 2025:
Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Hpn’ble Vice-Chancellor, successfully hosted Cultural Odyssey 2.0 as part of its Foundation Week celebrations. The event, a Geographical Indications (GI) Fashion Walk, saw enthusiastic student participants showcasing GI-tagged apparel and accessories from 21 different states of India, highlighting the nation’s rich cultural diversity. This initiative emphasized the importance of intellectual property in safeguarding traditional crafts and preserving cultural identities.
The event was organized by the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Intellectual Property Rights, HPNLU, with guidance from Dr. Santosh Kumar Sharma, Dr. Chandrika, and Dr. Arun Klair. With over 50 student participants, the walk was an engaging representation of India’s diverse heritage, from handloom textiles to traditional jewelry, bringing attention to the critical role of GI tags in protecting indigenous products.
By combining creativity with tradition, Cultural Odyssey 2.0 served as a reminder of the rich intellectual property embedded in India’s regional crafts. The event also offered a platform for students to appreciate and celebrate the intersection of law, culture, and intellectual property rights in a rapidly globalizing world.
