The Placement Assistance Cell of Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, under the aegis of Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Vice-Chancellor, HPNLU, organized a highly enriching Industry Expert Lecture on the topic “An Overview of the Commercial Court Act, 2015: History and Implementation”. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Rajeev Rambhatla, Partner at Luthra and Luthra Law Offices, Hyderabad, and was attended by undergraduate law students from the second, third, and fourth years.
The event was held on 14th November 2024 at the university campus and aimed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the Commercial Court Act, 2015, a crucial piece of legislation that has reformed the landscape of commercial dispute resolution in India.
Mr. Rambhatla, a distinguished expert in the field of commercial law, began his lecture by providing historical context to the enactment of the Commercial Courts Act, 2015. He elaborated on the urgent need for fast-tracking commercial litigation in India, citing the challenges faced by businesses due to prolonged delays in dispute resolution. He explained how the Act was introduced to ensure time-bound resolution of commercial disputes, thereby enhancing India’s position as an attractive destination for investment and business.
Mr. Rambhatla delved into the critical aspects of the Commercial Court Act, discussing its provisions in detail, such as the establishment of specialized commercial courts, the procedure for expedited hearings, and the enhanced role of judges with expertise in commercial matters.
