In a significant move to strengthen tourism collaboration, Dr. Rajiv Kumar, IAS, Managing Director of Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) met with senior officials of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) at the corporation’s Corporate Office in New Delhi on February 23, 2025.
During the meeting, Dr. Kumar held detailed discussions with Sanjay Kumar Jain, Chairman & Managing Director, IRCTC, along with the tourism team led by Rahul Himalian, Director (Tourism & Marketing). Other senior officials present included Promila Gupta, Group General Manager (Tourism) and Pradeep Kumar Dhiman, General Manager (Tourism).
Focus on Strategic Collaboration
The meeting was held in continuation of the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between HPTDC and IRCTC. The objective is to jointly utilize each other’s assets, strengths, and resources to create a mutually beneficial business association.
Key discussions centered on:
Increasing occupancy rates in HPTDC hotels and properties.
Expanding HPTDC’s national presence through IRCTC’s extensive tourism network.
Exploring the possibility of selling HPTDC cards and tourism packages through the IRCTC online portal.
A Step Towards Financial Strengthening
At a time when HPTDC is facing financial challenges, this collaboration is expected to significantly enhance its visibility across India and generate additional revenue streams. Leveraging IRCTC’s vast customer base and digital reach could prove to be a game-changer for the corporation.
Dr. Rajiv Kumar is also actively exploring tie-ups with various institutions and corporate houses from Shimla to further strengthen HPTDC’s occupancy and operational performance.
The partnership signals a proactive approach by HPTDC to revive growth and reinforce Himachal Pradesh’s tourism presence on the national stage.
