It is a matter of shame for the entire state that conspiracies were hatched one after another to conceal the death of an engineer. The government went to great lengths to protect Vimal Negi’s accusers. From the time of Vimal Negi’s disappearance until his death, the government did nothing to indicate its intention to provide justice for him. The Chief Minister, standing in the House of Representatives, declared that he would always support the family and, if the family demanded a CBI investigation, he would also order one.
The Leader of the Opposition said that the family not only demanded a CBI investigation, but also took to the streets and held candlelight vigils demanding a CBI inquiry. The government, siding with Vimal Negi’s perpetrators, ignored his family’s pleas. Exhausted, the family was forced to approach the court. Only then did a CBI investigation take place in Vimal Negi’s case. The most surprising thing was that the state government resorted to every possible conspiracy to stall the CBI investigation. The events that transpired between the Advocate General, the Shimla Superintendent of Police, and the Himachal Pradesh DGP to stall the CBI investigation will be remembered as a dark spot in Himachal Pradesh’s history.
The most astonishing act in this entire episode was the government’s. It was busy protecting each and every one of Vimal Negi’s accusers. The government didn’t even administratively punish any of Vimal Negi’s accusers. Despite all this, instead of removing the accused from their posts, they were given postings to more important positions. This government’s actions clearly reveal who is behind Pekhubela? Who is behind Vimal Lagi’s death? Who is behind the accused in Vimal Negi’s death? This is the most unique example of the collapse of the system in the name of system change, which the Sukhu government has established.
