Police have achieved a major success in the interstate chitta smuggling case. Jubbal police recently arrested a major supplier associated with Kapil Rajta’s smuggling gang, who was arrested from Sidhwan village in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district, located close to the Pakistan border. The accused has been identified as 42-year-old Buta Singh. The police team led by SHO Chetan Chauhan made this arrest. So far, police have arrested 6 accused in this case, including the kingpin of the gang.
Earlier, police had arrested Kapil Rajta, 3 smugglers from Punjab’s Ferozepur district and one smuggler from Rohru in the chitta smuggling case. Police investigation revealed that Buta Singh was the person who supplied the consignment of chitta seized a few days ago. This arrested accused has been accused of chitta smuggling earlier as well and he used to supply chitta regularly to the gang.
Police said that Buta Singh used to get chitta supplied from Pakistani smugglers, but now an investigation is also being done to find out whether he alone used to buy chitta from Pakistan or if there was another supplier besides him. Police have started questioning Buta Singh and efforts are being made to gather information about the other smugglers of this gang.
Rohru DSP Pranav Chauhan said that the aim of the police is to expose this entire smuggling network. Under this, the police are continuously taking action to catch all the smugglers associated with the gang. Now the police are expecting more arrests in this case so that this big gang of chitta smuggling can be completely eradicated.
