New Delhi/Tehran, April 8, 2026
The Government of India has issued a fresh advisory urging all Indian nationals currently in Iran to leave the country at the earliest, citing rapidly evolving security conditions in the region.
In a statement released by the Embassy of India in Tehran on Tuesday, officials advised citizens to “expeditiously exit Iran” while maintaining close coordination with the embassy and strictly following the routes suggested by authorities.
The advisory comes in continuation of an earlier notice issued on April 7, when Indian nationals were asked to remain indoors amid escalating tensions. With the situation now assessed as more volatile, the government has stepped up its cautionary measures.
The embassy has strongly warned against attempting to approach any international land border without prior consultation and coordination with Indian authorities.
Officials emphasized that unplanned movement could pose serious risks to personal safety.
To assist citizens, the embassy has shared multiple emergency contact numbers and an official email helpline. Indian nationals have been urged to remain in constant touch with embassy officials for guidance and evacuation support.
The advisory is being seen as a precautionary step amid growing geopolitical tensions in the region. While no immediate threat has been specified publicly, authorities are prioritizing the safety of Indian citizens abroad.
India has advised its citizens in Iran to leave without delay but only through safe, coordinated, and officially guided routes.
