While presiding over the review meeting of Chief Minister’s announcements for Mandi district here today, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur directed the officers to ensure time bound completion of Chief Minister’s announcements and give special focus on the projects foundation stones of which had been laid by him and were nearing completion so that these could be completed well in time. He said that this would not only avoid cost escalation but also ensure that the people of the area would be able to derive benefits of the developmental projects at the earliest.
Jai Ram Thakur said that Rs. 2 crore has been sanctioned for construction of shopping complex for vendors in Mandi town. He said that Deputy Commissioner Mandi has been directed to take up the matter with the Home Department for transfer of land at Police Lines Mandi. He said that construction of car parking near Ganpati temple must also be taken in hand on priority. He said that adequate funds would be provided for construction of 2nd and 3rd floor of the ISBT Mandi for providing multiple facilities such as parking, commercial shops and theatre etc. He also directed the officers to explore possibilities of construction of Sports Complex near Mandi town. He said that Rs. 50 crore ADB funded project has been posed for funding for development of Mandi town from tourism point of view by construction of lake etc.
Chief Minister said that all the projects of Jal Shakti Department whose 80 percent work has been finished must be completed by the end of June this year. He said that for this special campaign must be launched. He said that any laxity in execution of projects would be viewed seriously. He said that special emphasis must be laid on ensuring quality work in developmental projects. He said that thrust must be laid on forest clearances as most of the projects hangs in fire due to delay in forest clearances.
Jai Ram Thakur said that an effective mechanism should be developed to ensure optimum utilization of unspent money of various other departments lying with the Public Works Department. He said that this would not only ensure adequate funds for development but also give boost to the developmental process.
It was informed in the meeting that out of the total 451 announcements made by the Chief Minister in Mandi district, 354 have been completed and work was in progress on 87 announcements.
MLA Balh Inder Singh Gandhi said that construction of Mini Secretariat Ner Chock must be started at the earliest. He also urged the Chief Minister for opening of fire substation at Ner Chowk.
MLA Karsog Hira Lal said that matter regarding construction of bridge from Lunsu to Bindla on Satluj River must be taken up on priority.
MLA Sarkaghat Col. Inder Singh said that the road between Durgapur to Kalkhar must be upgraded as National highway. He also urged for construction of rest house at Baldwara.
MLA Drang Jawahar Thakur narrated various demands of his constituency.
MLA Nachan Vinod Kumar said that BDO office must be opened at Dhanotu, besides construction of helipad at Kamrunag. He said that bus stands at Gohar and Chail Chowk must be constructed at the earliest to facilitate the people of the area.
MLA Sundernagar Rakesh Jamwal thanked the Chief Minister for establishing Solid Waste Management Plant at Sundernagar town. He urged the Chief Minister for early completion of parking for Sundernagar.
MLA Jogindernagar Prakash Rana urged the Chief Minister to take up matter with the Army authorities to open a CSD Canteen at Ladbharol in Jogindernagar area.
