The 6th Convocation ceremony of Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat, Solan, H.P. was held on 06th July, 2024, in the university auditorium. The opulent event was graced by Honorable Governor and Chancellor of JUIT, Shri Shiv Pratap Shukla Ji, Pro Chancellor, JUIT, Shri Manoj Gaur Ji, Pro Chancellor JIIT, Professor (Dr.) S.C. Saxena, Vice Chancellor JUIT, Professor (Dr.) R.K. Sharma, Registrar and Dean of Students, JUIT, Maj Gen (Retd) Rakesh Bassi, Members of the Governing Council and Academic Council, guests, parents, faculty members and alumni of JUIT. The Ceremony was graced with blessings of Goddess Saraswati with lighting of the lamp and recitation of the Sarasvati Vandana after which Honorable chancellor declares “The Convocation Open”.
Endearing welcome address was rendered by Prof. R. K. Sharma, expressing his gratitude to all the stakeholders including parents and students for their unstained support and cooperation in making JUIT a world class university. He also presented the annual report of JUIT with important key achievements such as NAAC accreditation of JUIT with an A+ Grade on April 26, 2024 for five years, JUIT’s prominent place in QS Asia University Rankings 2024 and in World University Rankings 2024 by Times Higher Education, about the excellent placement records of JUIT, patents, publications, programs offered and other recent academic and research accomplishments of JUIT. He concluded his welcome address by motivating words to alumni and thanking all, for their gracious presence.
The function proceeded by the address of Honorable Sri Manoj Gaur Ji, Pro Chancellor JUIT. He started his speech with a quote by Nelson Mandela, who once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” He shared some pearl of wisdom to the students, “I would like to tell my students that the pursuit of success should not be confined to acquiring material wealth or professional acclaim. Rather, let it be measured by the impact you make upon the lives of others and the legacy you leave upon the records of history. Cultivate a thirst for knowledge that knows no bounds, nurture a spirit of compassion that transcends borders, and embrace future challenges with unwavering resolve. Be disciplined, read the Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta, and find time to absorb its life lessons”. He concluded his speech by congratulating the students.
After the inspiring words by Honorable Sri Manoj Gaur Ji, Honorable Governor and Chancellor of JUIT, Sri Shiv Pratap Shukla Ji, delivered his convocation speech. He started his speech with the quote by Arnold H. Glasow, “Success is not the result of spontaneous combustion. You must set yourself on fire.” He mentioned that convocation is more than a ceremony; it is a rite of passage. It signifies the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. He urges the graduates to be at the forefront of this transformative era, equipped with the skills and knowledge to make significant contributions in the development of the country. He also talked about the National Education Policy (NEP) and praised JUIT for shaping students into the individual who they are today. He concluded his speech by congratulating students, wishing them good luck and quoting golden words of Ralph Waldo Emerson: “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” Embrace your inner strength, step forward with confidence, make a meaningful difference, and let your light continue to shine brightly.
Convocation function further proceeded by Dean (Academics), Prof. (Dr.) Ashok K Gupta, who presented the PhD students, Master’s students and Undergraduate students of graduating batches for conferment of Degrees. Students received their degree by Vice Chancellor, Dr. R. K. Sharma. (2605) UG students, (305) MTech students, (66) Dual degrees and (149) PhD students received their degree. In total, 3125 degrees were conferred. After distribution of degree, Vice Chancellor charges them by Administering ‘The Pledge’. The proud UG and PG recipients of Vice Chancellor’s Gold Medals and Chancellor’s Gold Medal received their medals from honorable chancellor and pro chancellor of JUIT.
Further, formal vote of thanks was proposed by Vice Chancellor, Dr. R. K. Sharma and Honorable Chancellor declares ‘The Convocation Closed’. Master of the program was Prof Hemant Sood. Event was formally closed after National Anthem.
