Political function held without court permission—children’s education disrupted
Shimla, October 31. A cabinet minister of the current government has openly flouted the orders of the Honorable High Court by organizing a political function at the Government High School, Dhali, in the Mashobra block. This allegation was made by Rupa Sharma, an office bearer of the Kasupanti BJP and former vice-president of the Saksham Gundiya Board; Jitendra Bhotka, former president of the Kasupanti BJP Mandal; Devraj Kashyap; Shashank Atri; Kamal Thakur; Bhupendra Kanwar; and Pawan Sharma in a joint statement issued on Friday. They strongly condemned the holding of a political function at the school without the permission of the Honorable High Court.
Rupa Sharma and Jitendra Bhotka said that the ministers of the government have become so intoxicated with power that they have ignored the orders of the Honorable High Court and have demonstrated their dominance by organizing a political function in the school during office hours. The school staff and children left their studies and remained busy entertaining the leaders. To gather the crowd, the children were made to sit in the pandal to listen to the speeches andremained hungry and thirsty till 3 in the afternoon. While the studies of the children were disrupted due to the political function, the staff was busy managing the function for the past several days. It is reported that the minister has announced a reward of ten thousand rupees for school children who perform cultural programs at the public meeting.
Rupa Sharma and Jitendra Bhotka stated that the Honorable High Court has imposed a complete ban on political events in government educational institutions. Under special circumstances, permission from the Honorable High Court is mandatory for holding any event on a holiday in an educational institution. However, the MLA from the Kasupanti constituency and a cabinet minister of the state government openly defied the Honorable High Court by holding a political event in the school premises, a violation of court orders, for which the Chief Minister should take action against his minister.
When Rupa Sharma and Jitendra Bhotka spoke with the school’s headmaster, Rakesh Verma, he stated that no permission had been sought from the Honorable High Court for this event. He explained that the school management committee wanted to upgrade the school, which is why they had arranged the minister’s visit.
