Shimla, February 28: A case of suspected murder has been registered at Theog Police Station in connection with the death of a man in Jarai village of Theog subdivision.
According to police, FIR No. 22/2026 dated February 28, 2026, has been registered under Section 103(1) (302 IPC) following a complaint by Jagdish, a resident of Jarai village in Theog tehsil, who is engaged in agriculture and horticulture.
In his statement, the complainant said he had allowed a Nepali family to stay in two rooms at his orchard premises for work purposes. The family reportedly included Suresh (Nepali), his wife, their three daughters, two sons and a nephew, Dhani Ram.
On the morning of February 28, when Jagdish reached the dera (orchard accommodation), he found both rooms locked and no one present. Upon checking, one room was found empty, while Dhani Ram was discovered lying unconscious on the floor of the second room. He was not breathing.
The complainant has expressed suspicion that Suresh allegedly committed the crime during the night and fled from the spot along with his family.
Police said that further investigation is underway and necessary legal action is being taken. Efforts are on to trace the suspect, and all aspects of the case are being examined. Further details will be shared as the investigation progresses.
