Shimla: Heavy rains in the capital Shimla over the past week have become a disaster. The heavy rains are now affecting school education. A massive landslide occurred near St. Edward’s School in the capital late Thursday night, blocking roads.
Consequently, the district administration has decided to close the school for two days. A notification has been issued by Shimla DC Anupam Kashyap.
“Due to a landslide near the school, St. Edward’s School will remain closed on September 19th and 20th for safety reasons, ensuring safety and security for students.” – Anupam Kashyap, Shimla DC
Due to the landslide, people traveling to the State Secretariat, Khalini, BCS, Panthaghati, Vikasnagar, and Chhota Shimla may face significant difficulties. Shimla DC Anupam Kashyap advised people to use alternative routes such as ISBT, Kanlog, Ramnagar, Khalini Bypass, Tara Hall, Lakkar Bazaar, and IGMC Road. Residents living near Himland have been evacuated.
It is worth noting that a massive landslide also occurred in Shimla’s Himland on September 16th, sweeping away several vehicles parked on the roadside, causing traffic to come to a standstill.
Meanwhile, a massive landslide has occurred in Himland once again, forcing the administration to close St. Edward’s School for two days. Two weeks ago, heavy rains had also closed schools in the district for several days.
