Announcement of construction of multi-storey steel structured parking in Jakhu
Under the Smart City Mission, the new lift in the middle market was inaugurated by Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh on Monday.
While addressing the public meeting, Vikramaditya Singh said that this lift will provide a lot of convenience to senior citizens and tourists and will increase the intensity of business. He said that the state government is making efforts for the development of the city. Municipal Corporation Shimla has been instructed to prepare a proposal to build a multi-storey steel structured parking with escalator at Jakhu Temple so that the devotees can get parking facilities. He said that within the next few months, parking will be inaugurated in the city’s Vikas Nagar, SDA Complex, Auckland, near Cancer Hospital IGMC. There will be facility to park about 2 thousand vehicles in all these parking lots.
He said that work is being done for the expansion of the cart road. Apart from this, options are also being explored to connect cart roads with bypasses at various places, so that the traffic system can run smoothly.
He said that ducting of electrical wires, fiber and telecommunication wires will be done from Chhota Shimla to Mall Road so that the tangle of wires can be eliminated from the city and there will be ducting of wires in the city on the lines of foreign countries. He said that Shimla city is mini Himachal in itself. People from every region of the state live here. It is the responsibility of all of us to make the city clean and beautiful and all stakeholders need to be active in this direction.
He said that ropeway will be built in Shimla at a cost of about Rs 1600 crore and will be completed in the next few years. While this will provide relief to the city residents from traffic jams, the tourism industry will also benefit greatly. Major places of the city will be connected by ropeway. In such a situation, there will be an increase in traffic in the city.
Vikramaditya Singh said that Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has instructed Municipal Corporation Shimla to build a mini mall in the vegetable market. All the offices of the Municipal Corporation will be in this mall. Apart from this, there will be separate facility for senior citizens. Some shops will also be included in it. Apart from this, the culture of Himachal Pradesh will also be showcased in this mall. He said that all the schemes which were implemented during the previous government for the development of the city will also be completed soon. He said that governments run continuously. Only faces change but the common man should get maximum benefits.
Addressing the public meeting, local MLA Harish Janartha said that all the promises made for the development of the city will be fulfilled in the next 03 years. He instructed the RTDC officials that indicators regarding parking should be installed in Mall Road and Lower Bazaar so that the general public can know. He said that approval of Rs 50 crore has been received for ducting of wires in the city. The said amount has been transferred to the Public Works Department.
Municipal Corporation Mayor Surendra Chauhan said that Lakkar Bazaar is being connected to Ridge and Auckland to Lakkar Bazaar through lift. Its work is going on at a fast pace. Waste to Wonder Park will be established in Lakkar Bazaar for which a proposal is being prepared. The Municipal Corporation is making efforts to build a state-of-the-art park by connecting Daulat Singh Park with Rotary Town.

A flat fee of Rs 10 will be charged in the said lift. It will be possible to come and go in it. Through this lift you will be able to reach Mall Road directly from Middle Market. In such a situation, this lift will prove to be effective for senior citizens and tourists. 08 persons will be able to travel simultaneously inside the lift at one time. Its ticket will be valid for 12 hours.

Rapid Transport System Development Corporation (RTDC) will operate this lift for five years. The responsibility of its maintenance has also been given to RTDC. Rs 01 crore 77 lakh has been spent on the construction work of this lift. The lift was completed within two years. The height of its tower is 24 meters while the length of the foot over bridge is 24 meters and the width of the bridge is 1.5 meters.
