To prevent any kind of incident or untoward incident in the district, District Magistrate Anupam Kashyap has made it mandatory to register migrant workers, street vendors and other outside workers living temporarily in different areas of the district.
Under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Service Code (BNSS), entrepreneurs, businessmen, contractors, farmers, and others who employ migrant workers have been directed to register their workers with the nearest police station by providing their full details, including photographs. Orders have also been issued for migrant workers, street vendors, and other outsiders working in other sectors to register themselves with the nearest police station. Local residents have also been instructed to ensure the identification and registration of tenants before renting their houses to outsiders. Antecedents of such migrant workers must also be verified. This involves examining the individual’s character and past records to determine whether they are trustworthy and genuine. This report is prepared by the police station in the area where the individual resides. No migrant worker will be able to obtain employment in the district without registering with the police station within their jurisdiction.
The District Magistrate stated that outside workers, their employers, and landlords who violate these orders could face action under Section 223 of the Indian Penal Code (BNS). These orders will remain in effect until November 30, 2025.
District Magistrate Anupam Kashyap stated that a large number of laborers, street vendors, hawkers, and others come to the district from outside states to work. These people live temporarily in rented houses or at various construction sites. In the event of any crime or other untoward incident in the district involving outsiders, the police often face difficulties in investigating. Therefore, it is crucial to register outsiders temporarily residing in the district with the nearest police station.
