• Chief Minister interacts with students of Kaza CBSE school

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu interacted with students of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) school in Kaza today. During the interaction, he encouraged students to work hard, set goals and strive for success in life. The Chief Minister responded to their questions in a friendly manner and listened carefully to their concerns.
The students thanked the Chief Minister for affiliating the Kaza school with the CBSE. They said that the opportunity to study under the CBSE curriculum in the remote Spiti region was significant for them and would provide better educational opportunities.
During the interaction, a student informed the Chief Minister that 85 students were enrolled in the school, of whom 46 girls resided in the hostel. The student highlighted the shortage of a cook, cleaning staff and a female warden at the hostel.
In response, the Chief Minister said that separate hostels for boys and girls would be constructed to provide students with better residential facilities. He stated that a separate residential block for teachers would also be developed. He added that the state government would provide adequate funds to develop a better school in the region.
Another student requested that environmental studies be included in the school curriculum. Appreciating the suggestion, the Chief Minister said: “Environmental protection is an extremely important subject. Only if the environment survives, we will survive.”
The Chief Minister informed the students that the state government would introduce moral education from the next academic session and that the syllabus was currently being prepared.
The students also apprised the Chief Minister of the difficulties they faced while studying due to the cold classrooms and inadequate lighting. In response, he assured them that funds would be provided to improve the school building and facilities.
He said the necessary steps would be taken to upgrade the school, with the aim of completing the work by the next academic session.
A student asked the Chief Minister how he felt about visiting Spiti Valley for the second time. He replied that Spiti was a beautiful region blessed with natural splendour.
“The state government was developing various tourism-related projects in the region, which would increase local income and create employment opportunities,” he said.
The Chief Minister added that the number of tourists visiting the region had increased after the state government organised the Himachal Day celebrations there. He also informed the students that an ice hockey stadium was being constructed in the area, which could create opportunities to host international-level events in the future.
Another student requested special coaching facilities for students from Spiti Valley so that they would not have to travel outside the valley for academic support and preparation for competitive examinations.
Assuring them that positive steps would be taken in this direction, the Chief Minister said that skill training courses would soon be introduced in the region. The government would also consider launching specialised training courses related to tourism to provide local youth with better employment and self-employment opportunities.
