Hamirpur, April 11: A free health check-up camp was organised at the Town Hall on Saturday to mark the 132nd Foundation Day of Punjab National Bank.
The camp was conducted under the guidance of Arvind Yadav, Head of the bank’s Hamirpur Circle Office, in collaboration with Shelby Hospital, Mohali. Specialist doctors and healthcare workers from the hospital carried out medical examinations and provided expert consultations.
The camp was organised with the support of Municipal Corporation Hamirpur Commissioner Rakesh Sharma, Additional Commissioner Ram Prasad, Lead District Manager Dharmendra Sayal, Chief Manager Akhil Gangwar, and other officials.
Around 108 people underwent health check-ups during the camp. Services included blood pressure and random blood sugar tests, along with specialist consultations.
Dr. Dwij Jayant, a renowned gastroenterologist from Shelby Hospital, Mohali, examined patients and offered medical advice. He said that changing eating habits, irregular lifestyles, increasing stress levels, unsafe drinking water in some areas, and the rising consumption of packaged and outside food are contributing to an increase in digestive diseases in Himachal Pradesh.
He added that conditions such as acidity, gastritis, indigestion, liver disorders, and intestinal diseases are becoming more common, but can be prevented with timely consultation.
Dr. Jayant also emphasised that such free health check-up camps play an important role in the early detection of diseases and in spreading awareness among the public.
