Under the ongoing Mission Clean Bharosa Abhiyan of Shimla Police against drug peddlers and drug addicts, police arrested 4 people, including a woman with chitta, in 2 separate cases, while a vehicle has also been seized. Police has implemented this action under Police Station Baluganj and Police Station Dhali.
Woman and 2 youths arrested by police with 10.65 grams of chitta
Under the first case, the team of Special Cell under Police Station Baluganj had set up a checkpost in Taradevi. During this time, a vehicle (PB 65U-1632) was stopped there for investigation. Mohammad Umar (21), resident of Idgah Colony Lakkad Bazar; Aarushi Sharma (19), resident of village Balin Post Office Chanog Tehsil and District Shimla; and Raman Thakur (19), resident of Guleria House Dudhli Tehsil and District Shimla, were riding in it. During the search, 10.65 grams of chitta were recovered from his possession. Police registered a case under Sections 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act and arrested all three accused and also seized their vehicle.
Youth arrested with 3,040 grams of chitta
In another case, a police team under Dhali police station was out on patrol. When this team was on patrol towards the Dhali-Sanjauli bypass, near Batish Colony, they searched Sandeep (21), a resident of village and post office Jaav, Tehsil Ani District Kullu and recovered 3.040 grams of chitta from him. Police registered a case under Section 21 of the NDPS Act and released the accused after giving him notice and started investigating his links.
The district will not tolerate smugglers or drug addicts under any circumstances, according to SSP Shimla Sanjeev Gandhi. The police are now carrying out mapping at the ward level to identify them and to eliminate drug abuse from the district. The police have exposed many big drug peddlers and syndicates and the chain has been broken.
