Employees, engineers, and pensioners of the State Electricity Board have announced a one-day pen-down and tool-down strike across the state today, February 12. The call for the strike has been given by the Joint Action Committee of electricity employees.
Committee Convenor Engineer Lokesh Thakur stated that all electricity board staff and engineers across the state are participating in the protest. Following the strike, statewide demonstrations will also be held during the lunch break.
The primary demands of the agitation include opposition to the privatization of the power sector, withdrawal of the Electricity Amendment Bill 2025 and the proposed National Electricity Policy 2026, and restoration of the Old Pension Scheme for electricity employees.
