On the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, they were remembered with reverence by taking out a morning procession here today.
District administrative officials, children from the Sarvodaya Bal Ashram Rockwood, volunteers from the ITI and Nehru Yuva Kendra, teachers from various schools, artists from the Language and Culture Department, representatives from various organizations, and local residents participated in the morning procession. Chants of “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram” and praises of Mother India echoed throughout the city, as people paid homage to Bapu.

The morning procession was taken out from Lal Bahadur Shastri Chowk Central Telegraph Office via Lower Bazaar and Sher-e-Punjab Restaurant, which was immersed near the statue of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on the Ridge ground.
On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner Divyanshu Singal said that like every year, a morning procession was organized on Gandhi Jayanti this year, in which people from all sections of society participated. He said that by following the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi, a good, strong, robust, and peaceful society can be built. He said that drug addiction is the biggest challenge today, and all stakeholders in society have a very important role to play in combating it. He said that with everyone’s cooperation, we can overcome this problem and achieve victory.
