The headquarters of the Wildlife Wing of the Himachal Pradesh Forest Department is being prepared to be shifted from the capital, Shimla, to Dharamshala. The Forest Department has prepared a proposal for this. They are bringing this proposal to the next cabinet meeting. The government has declared Dharamshala as the tourism capital. In such a situation, the government is engaged in developing this district in terms of tourism. In this episode, the country’s largest zoo is also being built in Bankhandi of Kangra district at a cost of 619 crores. Along with this, shifting the headquarters will give wings to tourism in the district and the youth will also get employment.
When the headquarters of the Wild Life Wing is shifted, the entire staff, including the PCCF Wildlife Wing, will be sent to Dharamshala. It is being told that until the building for the headquarters of the wing is constructed, it is proposed to run the headquarters in the district office itself. Thousands of tourists come to Dharamshala every year. Tourists visit the Dalai Lama Temple, McLeodganj, Bhagsunag, and International Cricket Stadium. Now the zoo to be built in Bankhandi at a cost of 619 crores will also become a center of attraction for tourists as well as local people and this will promote tourism activities in the area.
In the first phase, 34 yards are to be built here for animals. This will also generate income for the government and will also promote ecotourism. It is being told that the departmental officials have also discussed with Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu the matter of shifting the headquarters of the Wild Life Wing. The government believes that if the country’s largest zoo is being built in Bankhandi, then it would be right for the headquarters of the Wild Life Wing to also be in the same district. Along with this, the increasing pressure of buildings and population in Shimla will also be reduced. CM’s Principal Advisor Media Naresh Chauhan said that the government is developing Kangra district as a tourism capital.
