A sensational incident has come to light on Friday afternoon at Gandhi Chowk of the district headquarters. A government employee working in the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Hamirpur swallowed a poisonous substance, which later led to his death. The deceased has been identified as Vatan Singh, resident of village Bhareen. The deceased was working in the Revenue Department of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
According to eyewitnesses, Vatan Singh suddenly took out a poisonous substance at Gandhi Chowk and swallowed it. After some time he felt dizzy and fell there. After this, there was a stir among the people. The people present nearby and the local shopkeepers immediately took care of him and took him to Medical College Hamirpur for treatment, but the doctors declared him dead. Vatan Singh, a resident of Bhareen, has also served in the Indian Army.
Police investigating the matter
On receiving the information, police station in-charge Andesh Thakur reached the spot with his team and started investigating the matter. The police station in-charge said, ‘The reasons for swallowing the poisonous substance are being ascertained. At present, the post-mortem of the body is being done in the Medical College, after which the body will be handed over to the family.’ Vatan Singh has two sons, both are married and both are serving in the Indian Army.
