Industry, Parliamentary Affairs, and Labor and Employment Minister Harsh Vardhan Chauhan said that micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are the backbone of the state’s economy. The Industry Minister was addressing a regional conclave on micro, small, and medium enterprises organized by a prominent Hindi daily newspaper today.
Harsh Vardhan Chauhan stated that the MSME sector not only plays a vital role in job creation, but also in promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and inclusive growth. He stated that the state government’s goal is to further promote small industries. The state government is formulating a new industrial policy. The new policy will invite suggestions from various industry associations, especially micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, to develop a better policy. He stated that the new industrial policy will emphasize providing various facilities to promote small industries.
The Industries Minister stated that the state government is considering simplifying Rule 118 of the Himachal Pradesh Tenancy and Land Reforms Act, 1972. He stated that the state government will ensure that industries established in Himachal receive enhanced facilities. He added that the state government is selecting land in border areas to develop townships for the convenience of industrialists and workers. These townships will provide international-level facilities.
Harsh Vardhan Chauhan assured the MSME representatives that their various problems would be addressed appropriately at the state level. He also promised to raise the issues at the national level.
He said that the central government has reduced the state’s aid under various schemes this fiscal year. Consequently, the state has received approximately 10,000 crore rupees less. He said that due to this reduction, the state is facing numerous problems. He said that the state government is making every possible effort to develop Himachal Pradesh as a model state and that with everyone’s cooperation, unexpected success will be achieved in this direction.
He said that a meeting of MSME representatives would be held soon in Shimla. This meeting would be chaired by Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Thakur.
On this occasion, representatives of micro, small and medium industries informed the Industry Minister about their various problems.
State President of Laghu Udyog Bharti Akhil Mohan Agarwal, State Vice President of Industries Association Hemraj Chaudhary and Ashok Rana of Laghu Udyog Sangh Baddi along with other representatives expressed their views on this occasion.
