Shimla: The district administration has intensified preparations ahead of the proposed visit of the President from April 27 to May 2, with officials directed to ensure seamless arrangements and zero lapses.
Chairing a high-level review meeting, District Magistrate Anupam Kashyap said the President will stay at The Retreat during her visit. He instructed all departments to complete preparations well in advance and maintain strict coordination.
Kashyap directed authorities to make both Kalyani and Annadale helipads fully operational for landing. The Public Works Department has been tasked with repairing and ensuring smooth connectivity on the route leading from the airport to The Retreat.
The Shimla Municipal Corporation has been ordered to carry out an extensive cleanliness drive in and around the presidential residence. Meanwhile, Shimla Jal Prabandhan Nigam Limited (SJPNL) has been directed to ensure uninterrupted water supply throughout the visit.
To strengthen safety measures, the Fire Department will conduct a comprehensive fire audit of The Retreat and other key locations. The Health Department has been asked to deploy round-the-clock medical teams, including ambulances, and ensure regular testing of food samples.
Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh and other senior officials, including Additional Deputy Commissioner Sachin Sharma and Additional District Magistrates Jyoti Rana and Pankaj Sharma, attended the meeting along with representatives from various departments.
The administration emphasized that all arrangements must meet the highest standards, given the significance of the visit.
