Shimla: A five-day Shimla Him Sangeet Festival-2026 celebrating classical, semi-classical, folk and light music will be organized from March 10 to March 14, 2026 at the Gothic Auditorium of Gaiety Theatre on the Mall Road in Shimla.
The festival is being jointly organized by the North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC), Patiala, in collaboration with the Department of Language, Art and Culture, Himachal Pradesh, and the Gaiety Dramatic Society, Shimla.
Sharing details, Rima Kashyap, Director of the Department of Language, Art and Culture, said the department remains committed to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage and folk traditions of the northern region. Under the guidance of Rakesh Kanwar, IAS, Secretary of the Department, the festival will showcase a variety of musical and dance performances.
According to the schedule, the festival will open on March 10 with a Kathak dance performance by Nitin & Group, followed by classical singing by Gunjan Channa.
On March 11, audiences will witness classical and light music by Deepak Mehta, light and folk music by Charu Sharma, and folk songs by Dharmapal Thakur.
The third day, March 12, will feature Sufi Kalam by Malik Ali & Group, while March 13 will present Qawwali performances by the renowned Nizami Brothers.
The festival will conclude on March 14 with a flute recital by Gulzar Hussain and a contemporary music and dance performance by Santosh Nair & Group.
The Director of the North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala, will attend the inaugural session, and each evening of the festival will be graced by prominent state dignitaries to promote the cultural legacy of Himachal Pradesh.
The event aims to provide a platform for artists while offering music lovers an opportunity to experience diverse cultural performances in Shimla.
