Shimla
The terror of a leopard has once again been witnessed in Sanjauli, a suburb of the capital, Shimla. On Tuesday, people in Chalonthi, near Sanjauli, were alarmed when a leopard attacked a child. When the people nearby saw the leopard attacking the child, they chased it away. They also set off fireworks and made a lot of noise to scare it away.
Locals say the leopard has hidden in a shed and is still there. They informed the Sanjauli police station. Police arrived at the scene and patrolled the area, warning people to stay home, keep their children safe, and avoid going out alone at night, as the leopard could attack. As soon as the news of the leopard’s arrival spread, an atmosphere of fear spread in the surrounding area.
Local resident Ajay Kalyan said, “The leopard is hiding somewhere near our house and has hidden in a shed.” Our neighbor, Dinesh, told us to be home early, as a leopard had attacked a small child and rescued him. The leopard fled when people shouted. The Forest Department is requested to capture the leopard soon.
Leopard has attacked before
It’s worth noting that three years ago, on Diwali day, a leopard killed a child in Kanlog. After that, a leopard abducted a child in the Down Dale area. The Forest Department subsequently set up a cage there, but the cage remained empty, and the leopard was not trapped. Leopards visit the city every winter, preying on animals and even small children.
