Shimla, July 22: A young man from Rajhana in Shimla district, identified as Sandeep Dhiman, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a hotel room in Chandigarh. He had reportedly travelled to the city with three friends to purchase automobile service equipment.
According to police, the four friends checked into a hotel in Dadu Majra, Chandigarh, late Monday night. On Tuesday morning, Sandeep did not respond when his friends tried to wake him. They immediately alerted the hotel staff, who informed the police.
A police team from Industrial Area Police Station reached the hotel and shifted Sandeep to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Police said no visible external injury marks were found on the body during the preliminary examination. The exact cause of death will be determined after the post-mortem examination and forensic reports.
The body has been sent for post-mortem, while police have initiated an investigation into the incident. Statements of the deceased’s friends and hotel staff are being recorded, and CCTV footage from the hotel is also being examined to establish the sequence of events.
Authorities have stated that all angles are being investigated, and further action will depend on the findings of the post-mortem report and other evidence.
