Solan, August 16
Belletristic literature society of the English Department, Shoolini University, organised a talk by Sanghamitra Dalal who teaches at the College of Creative Arts, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia.
The book being discussed has a character called Ah Hock as the main protagonist. Ah Hock is an ordinary, uneducated man born in a Malaysian fishing village trying to make his way in a country that promises riches and security to everyone, but delivers them only to a chosen few.
The talk was followed by an animated discussion in which the faculty members of Shoolini, led by Prof Tejnath Dhar, took part. It was generally agreed that the book has a lot of potential for research and deserves greater in-depth study. Dr Dalal fielded all the questions and comments with dexterity and explained in detail the points raised in her presentation.
