Solan, October 14
Dr Ravi Kant, Researcher and Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Biotechnology at Shoolini University, has been selected as one of 30 international researchers from around the world for the Biotechnology and Biomedical Innovation Research Tour 2026. The tour is organised by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and will take place in Berlin from 8 to 14 November 2026.
The tour is part of Germany’s “Research in Germany” initiative and is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR). It connects outstanding early-career researchers with Germany’s top universities, research institutions, funding agencies and innovation organisations. Dr Kant was selected through a competitive process, and DAAD will meet the full cost of his participation, including travel, accommodation, insurance and programme expenses.
The week-long programme will begin with the final day of the Falling Walls Science Summit, one of the world’s leading gatherings on scientific breakthroughs. Dr Kant will then attend a German Research Insight Day at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. The session will include presentations by DAAD, the German Research Foundation (DFG), the Max Planck Society and Projektträger Jülich on research funding and career opportunities in Germany, and will end with a networking dinner hosted by DFG.
Over the following days, he will visit some of Germany’s most respected research institutions. These include Der Simulierte Mensch (“The Simulated Human”), a joint research centre of Technische Universität Berlin and Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, one of Europe’s largest university hospitals. The schedule also includes Freie Universität Berlin, the Einstein Foundation Berlin, the Max Delbrück Center’s Berlin Institute for Medical Systems Biology, and a final programme at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Participants will also have the chance to meet individual principal investigators and researchers in their fields.
For Shoolini University, the selection is the latest sign of its growing global research profile. Dr Kant works at the meeting point of computational biology, drug discovery, infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance and vaccine research. He has received nearly 23 international awards and honours, including Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation awards. He was recently awarded an AMR Visiting Professorship by the Academy of Medical Sciences, United Kingdom, in collaboration with the University of Southampton. Dr Kant has also been appointed very recently as the visiting Professor at the Postgraduate Programme in Health Sciences (PPGCS) at the
Universidade do Extremo Sul Catarinense (UNESC) Brazil.
His visit is expected to open new pathways for collaboration between Shoolini University and German research institutions in biotechnology and biomedical innovation, creating opportunities for joint research, faculty exchange and student mobility.
