The Municipal Corporation (MC) of Shimla has initiated a 10-day special campaign in which its staff will be removing unauthorized hoardings that have been placed throughout the town in response to the town’s widespread unauthorized hoardings.
According to Bhuwan Sharma, Joint Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Shimla, the Himachal Pradesh High Court recently ordered the police department and the municipal organization to take down the posters, banners, and hoardings that were put up throughout the town.
He stated that no hoardings, banners, or posters could be erected on public property in accordance with MC regulations. “People cannot erect promotional materials on their own initiative, even on private properties like homes or land. Installing hoardings on private property requires obtaining the MC’s approval, he stated.
“Installing unapproved hoardings and banners can also result in a fine of between Rs 500 and Rs 10,000,” he continued.
The Joint Commissioner added that another campaign to clear the town of unauthorized hoardings would be started in the next several days if necessary.
