In Ladakh and Lahaul of HP, the light to moderate snowfall has been recorded at many places across Kargil and lahaul district since last night, in line with the forecast issued by the Meteorological Centre.
According to the latest weather update, light to moderate snowfall is likely to continue today at many places in Kargil, Darcha, Shringul and Zanskar, while higher reaches of Leh district may also receive snowfall. On December 22, the weather is expected to remain cold and cloudy, with light snowfall at scattered places in Kargil district and isolated snowfall over higher reaches of Leh district.
Director Meteorology Centre Ladakh, Sonam Lotus, said that moderate to heavy snowfall is likely today over Zojila, Drass and Zanskar regions, while light to moderate snowfall may also occur over other high mountain passes such as Khardongla and Changla. He further warned that snowfall may disrupt traffic over major passes, particularly Zojila, during December 21 and 22, and there is a significant risk of flight cancellations on December 22.
