After a week, the weather has turned cloudy in various parts of Himachal Pradesh. Light snowfall occurred in the higher reaches of Lahaul-Spiti and Kullu on Sunday morning, deepening the cold wave conditions in the hilly regions. The higher reaches, including Rohtang, are experiencing light snowfall, but vehicular movement between Manali and Keylong is continuing normally.
With the change in weather, the valley is experiencing severe cold. Kullu has been witnessing a cloudy sky since morning, and gardeners and farmers are expecting rain and snow. However, the state has been experiencing severe cold so far, and the temperature has dropped to minus 14 degrees. In Himachal Pradesh, 5 districts recorded sub-zero temperatures and dense fog in the plains.
Fog continued to affect flights at Kullu for the third day on Saturday, causing hardships to passengers. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of snowfall in the higher areas on December 23 and 24, while rain and snow are expected throughout the state on December 27.
The Meteorological Department has issued a cold wave warning for the next 6 days in the state. Dense fog in the plains on 24th and 25th December may cause reduced visibility, affecting traffic. Several areas in Mandi, Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti and Chamba recorded sub-zero temperatures, affecting normal life. Fog has also increased in Una, Hamirpur and Bilaspur due to which people are suffering.
