Organised by the Department of Language and Culture at the Gaiety Theatre over the weekend
With the aim of turning the young generation towards creativity and connecting them with their folk culture through storytelling, musical band and cultural programs for school students, the Language and Culture Department started storytelling and musical band presentations for school students on weekends. Former Indian Administrative Officer and senior litterateur and theatre artist Srinivas Joshi inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp.
District Language Officer Shimla Anil Harta while giving information said that under the story reading series, in the conference room of the historic Gaiety Theatre complex, students of 05 schools of Shimla city and girl students of Government Girls College Shimla were motivated for story writing through the story named Kora Kagaj and the students were also motivated to make good use of their time and read stories of famous story writers of the country apart from the school curriculum, on which the students interacted with the story writer through questions and understood the nuances of story writing.
Aditya, Amrit Anjali, among the students from schools, also gave analytical comments on his story.
Displaying the folk culture of the state in the open air stage, the girl students of Government Girls Ideal Senior Secondary School, Portmore entertained hundreds of tourists and spectators by giving captivating performances of folk songs and dances dressed in traditional costumes with the help of musical band.
