    STEM Sparks Innovation at Sanawar: Jaypee University Experts Lead Dynamic Faculty Workshop

    A dynamic Faculty Development Workshop on STEM Education was successfully conducted at The Lawrence School, Sanawar, drawing participation from nearly 60 faculty members. The workshop was led by distinguished experts from Jaypee University of Information Technology, Waknaghat, aiming to strengthen interdisciplinary teaching practices and introduce contemporary advancements in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

    The sessions were spearheaded by eminent academicians including Prof. Tiratha Raj Singh, Dr. Ragini Raj Singh, and Dr. Saurabh Srivastava. Prof. Singh underscored the transformative power of STEM education in nurturing creativity, innovation, and analytical thinking through project-based and experiential learning models.

    Dr. Ragini Raj Singh highlighted the growing convergence of nanoscience and Artificial Intelligence, discussing their far-reaching applications in healthcare, environmental sustainability, and advanced electronics. She emphasized how emerging technologies are reshaping modern education and research landscapes.

    Dr. Saurabh Srivastava elaborated on the foundational role of mathematics in STEM disciplines, particularly the application of linear algebra in Artificial Intelligence. He explained its real-world use in image processing and recommendation systems employed by global companies such as Amazon.

    The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation, vibrant discussions, and collaborative idea-sharing among faculty members. Educators explored innovative pedagogical approaches and practical strategies to integrate advanced scientific and technological concepts into everyday classroom teaching.

    The successful conduct of the programme was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the school leadership, including Headmaster Mr. Himmat S. Dhillon, Deputy Headmaster Mr. Ravi Kumar, Ms. Aashima Bath (Head TEC), Mr. Hitender Jamwal (Head of Faculty, Computer Science), and Mr. R. P. Gautam (Faculty, Mathematics).

    The event concluded with a renewed commitment to continuous professional development and equipping students with the competencies required to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world.

    22 Nauni varsity faculty to visit international research institutes

    In its efforts to provide international exposure to its teachers, 22 faculty of Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni from varied disciplines have been selected for international training programmes at reputed institutes and universities.

     

    The faculty members which include young scientists as well as senior professors have been selected by the University for International exposure to countries like the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, South Korea, France, Thailand and Israel for training programmes ranging between 15 days to 3 months. The international training programme is sponsored under the ICAR NAHEP Institutional Development Plan being implemented at the university.

     

    Prof Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, UHF Vice-Chancellor informed that these 22 selected scientists will work in international labs with mentors from the respective Institutes and Universities. They will learn about the new frontiers of research in their professional exposure areas. He added that the knowledge and skills gained will be used for providing quality education to students at Nauni.

     

    Professor Chandel added that the visit of scientists aims at upgrading quality education through the generation of talented scientific manpower which will create new opportunities for growth in the Himalayas Region. Thanking the ICAR, Prof Chandel said that IDP through its various activities will enhance the quality of education in Horticulture and Forestry for generating human resource with entrepreneurial skills.

     

    The university is also looking to strengthen and establish linkages with globally ranked academic and research institutes and industries for improving the quality of education in the university. Further, the university is also trying to develop a pool of competent human resource in the field of Horticulture and Forestry.

     

    Dr. KK Raina, PI of the project informed that in addition to these 22 scientists, efforts are being made to send more scientists for such training programmes. In addition to foreign exposure, scientists are being encouraged to visit different national and international labs and are being encouraged to participate in seminars and workshops.

    Dr. Anil Kumar Handa, Dr. Rajesh Kaushal, Dr. DR Bhardwaj, Dr. Rakesh Sharma, Dr. Savita Jandaik, Dr. Sumit Vashisht, Dr. Sunita Chandel, Dr. Ashok Kumar Thakur, Dr. Monica Sharma, Dr. Vipan Guleria, Dr. SK Bhardwaj, Dr. Dinesh Thakur, Dr. Vishal Rana, Dr. Manish Kumar, Dr. Narayan Singh, Dr. KK Raina, Dr. Manisha Thakur, Dr. Anjali Chauhan, Dr. Anupama Singh and Dr. Narender Bharat. Dr. Anil Sood and Dr. Meenu Sood have already undertaken a two-week international Programme at AIT, Thailand. Dr Rakesh Sharma is presently in University of Newcastle, Australia to take part in an international programme.
