Shimla, February 14:
The district administration has put in place elaborate security arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of the upcoming Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha session beginning February 16. Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap chaired a high-level meeting to review law and order preparedness during the session.
To maintain strict vigil, the Shimla administration has divided the city into five sectors. These include the Assembly Complex to Assembly Chowk, Cecil Hotel to Ambedkar Chowk at Chaura Maidan, Cart Road to Kennedy Chowk to Chaura Maidan, Cart Road–Lift–Bus Stand–103 Crossing stretch, and the CTO area. Officials from the district administration and police will closely monitor these zones to prevent any disruption.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized strong coordination between administrative and police sector officers. All departments have been directed to discharge their duties responsibly. Special parking arrangements for government vehicles will also be in place during the session.
Senior officials present at the meeting included ADM (Protocol) Jyoti Rana, Additional SP Abhishek Dhiman, Commandant Padam Chand, SDM Shimla (Rural) Manjit Sharma, and SDM Shimla (Urban) Oshin Sharma, among others.
Police Deployment Intensified
From the policing perspective, the city has been divided into four security sectors. Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh stated that the police department is fully prepared for the Budget Session. Adequate deployment of police and Home Guard personnel has been ensured, and all officers on duty have been put on high alert to prevent any lapse in security.
Sector-Wise Administrative Responsibility
SDM (Urban) Oshin Sharma has been assigned the Assembly Complex area. The stretch from Ambedkar Chowk, Chaura Maidan to Cecil Hotel will be overseen by SDM (Rural) Manjit Sharma along with Tehsildar (Rural) Sanjeev Gupta. The Assembly bifurcation and Kennedy Chowk to Chaura Maidan area will be managed by Tehsildar (Urban) Narayan Verma. The Cart Road, Lift, Bus Stand up to 103 Crossing stretch has been assigned to Naib Tehsildar Bhisham Kanwar, while the CTO area will be supervised by Naib Tehsildar Chand Ram.
Authorities have assured that comprehensive measures are in place to maintain law and order and ensure the Assembly proceedings conclude peacefully and without interruption.
