All tourism activities in Sissu village of tribal district Lahaul-Spiti will remain suspended from January 20 to February 28 following a decision taken by the local panchayat due to Dev Pratibandh (religious restrictions).
According to Sissu Panchayat Pradhan Rajeev, the decision has been taken to maintain peace and sanctity during the traditional religious festivals Halda and Puna. During this period, all tourism-related activities from Pagal Nala to Ropsang will remain completely shut.
The ban includes all adventure and recreational activities such as ATV riding, hot air ballooning, zip lining, skiing, bungee jumping and tube sliding. The decision was taken unanimously with the consent of the Raja Ghepan Committee, Devi Bhoti Committee, Labrang Gompa Committee, and the women and youth groups of Sissu Panchayat.
The Panchayat Pradhan informed that copies of the resolution have been forwarded to the Deputy Commissioner, Sub-Divisional Magistrate and Superintendent of Police, Keylong. He also appealed to tourists, operators and local residents to strictly adhere to the religious directives and cooperate in maintaining peace during the holy period.
