Mandi / Karsog, April 21
In a heartbreaking road accident on the Karsog–Shimla route, two young men lost their lives after their vehicle plunged into a deep gorge near Kalgar on Monday.
According to initial reports, the victims were returning home from Tattapani when their car (HP 63B 0451) reportedly went out of control and fell nearly 700 feet into a steep valley. The impact was so severe that the vehicle was completely mangled.
On receiving information, a police team rushed to the spot and, after a strenuous rescue operation, retrieved both bodies from the gorge. The police have taken the bodies into custody and initiated further legal proceedings.
The deceased have been identified as Sunil Kumar (25), son of Kanshi Ram, a resident of Southal Mahunag village, and Pawan Kumar, son of Krishna Lal, a resident of Kethu Mahunag village.
The tragic incident has cast a pall of gloom over the entire region. DSP Karsog, Chand Kishore, confirmed the incident and said that an investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
