Vanshika Goswami from Himachal has made the state and the country proud by winning a gold medal in the Youth World Boxing Championship. The championship, being held in Colorado, USA, from October 25 to November 5, saw Vanshika achieve this feat with her brilliant performance.
Vanshika’s sporting journey started from childhood. He was interested in sports and expressed his desire to learn judo-karate from his father. While learning Judo-Karate till Class 9, he had earned a brown belt. After going to Baroh with his father after class 10, he showed interest in boxing, after which his sports career took a new turn.
Vanshika’s early education was at DAV School Bhartoli and Shivalik School Jwalaji. In class 12, he studied at Government Senior Secondary School Samloti (Nagrota Bagwan). At the same time, under the guidance of lecturer Kailash Sharma, Vanshika started training in boxing and became a state champion in school games. Later, she won a silver medal at the National Games.
After completing Class 12, coach Kailash Sharma advised Vanshika to go out for advanced training. Vanshika took coaching from a private academy in Haryana and got selected in SAI Rohtak. Vanshika honed her game under the guidance of head coach Madam Amanpreet at SAI Rohtak.
