Trout Conservation Association Kullu organized the seventh Catch and Release Trout Angling Competition in Banjar subdivision with the aim of promoting angling tourism. 38 participants from across the country took part in it. The participants showed their talent of trout angling in river Tirthan and Beas. Satpal Mehta, director of fisheries department concluded the competition on Sunday. Varun Bharti, who belongs to Banjar, stood first in the Catch and Release Angling Competition.
He caught a 16 inch long fish. Nitish Kumar of Aout bagged the second position by catching a fish of 14 inches in length. Ashok remained in the third place. He caught the maximum number of fish, five. The director of the department appreciated the efforts of the association. The association and farm operators presented suggestions to promote angling tourism before the director.
The competition fishes were caught first and then released into the water. Roop Katoch, president of Trout Conservation Association, said such an effort would boost tourism activities in the valley. During this, Vice President of the Association Sandeep Kanwar, President of Himachal Angling Association KB Ralhan, General Secretary Krishna Sandhu, Member Yadvendra etc. were present.
