Shoolini Institute of Life Sciences and Business Management (SILB), Solan, celebrated world food day with awareness events about food conservation and role of water in our lives. Held under the theme, “Water is life, water is food, leave no one behind,” the institute organized a series of engaging events that attracted participation from students across various departments.
Chief guest of the event was Dr. Shalini Sharma, Director of SILB. A distinguished panel of judges including Dr. Meenu Thakur, Mrs. Shivani Dutt, and Mr. Varun Garla lent his expertise to evaluate the students’ performances.
In the speech competition, graduate and postgraduate students showcased their oratory skills, with Muskaan Bisht presenting an insightful perspective on the central theme. Vanshika Chauhan and Meenakshi, representing the BBA Department, claimed the first and second prizes in the graduate category, while Simran Patial and Rahul Thakur, from the M.Sc. Botany programme, secured the top position in the postgraduate category.
The photography competition was grabbed by Aditya Narota from the BBA, and Yash Parmar from the BCA department clinching the second prize. In the painting competition, Kirti Thakur, pursuing M.Sc. in Biotechnology, displayed remarkable talent and secured the first prize, while Harshul Kaundal, an M.Sc. Botany student, claimed the second prize. Akash Thakur from the BCA Department was awarded the consolation prize. The Botany Department’s skit enraptured the audience, while Hari Om, a student of the BBA Department performed a RAP.
